VideoMark is a free, open-source browser extension that helps users remember video playback progress, mark segments on video progress bars, and relay playback across browser tabs. This privacy policy explains how the extension handles your data.

Data Collection

VideoMark does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on remote servers. All data generated by the extension is stored locally in your browser using the browser's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local).

The following data is stored locally on your device:

• Video playback positions (URL and timestamp)
• Segment markers set by the user
• User preferences and settings
• Playback history for visited videos

Data Transmission

VideoMark does not send any data to external servers. No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry. The extension operates entirely on your local device.

Data Sharing

No data is shared with any third party. The extension does not include any third-party tracking scripts or advertising networks.

Data Control

Users can:

• View all stored data through the extension's record management interface
• Export data as a JSON backup file
• Import data from a backup file
• Delete individual records or all data at any time
• Uninstall the extension to remove all stored data

Permissions

VideoMark requests the following permissions:

• storage: To save playback progress, segment markers, and settings locally in your browser.
• activeTab: To read the video element on the current tab and save/restore playback position.
• tabs: To open and switch between tabs for cross-tab relay playback.
• alarms: To monitor playback status and trigger the next tab when a video ends.
• unlimitedStorage: To store playback history for a large number of videos without storage limits.
• host permissions (<all_urls>): To inject content scripts on websites with HTML5 video, so progress memory and segment markers work on any video site.

Remote Code

VideoMark does not use or execute any remote code. All extension code is packaged within the extension and runs locally.

Children's Privacy

The extension does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

Any updates to this privacy policy will be reflected on this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
